| The
Country |
A
recently extended country which stretches from the northern and
western slopes of Dartmoor up to the North Devon coastline from
Bideford to west of Bude. Exceptionally varied with good moorland
meets around Chagford and Tavistock and excellent 'in-country'
around Winkleigh, Hatherleigh and Holsworthy. Very stable hare
population throughout with notable increases in numbers in several
parts of the country. |
| History |
The hunt
was established in 1960 by Mr Charles Hooley, who was also Master of
the Mid-Devon Foxhounds. Most of the original pack were bred from
RAC lines |
| |
About 25
couple of hounds are kept at kennels and the pack hunts two days a
week on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Current membership of this hunt is
well over 100 and growing. |
